Sneaking Away to Email? Why CEO's Loathe Vacation...
8/24/2014
You would think being a CEO gives you every right to be in and out of your business and make money while your on vacation right? Wrong, in this article a survey shows that most CEO's can't get away from their business and always have to work or be concerned about their company during vacation. This article talks about a woman who is the head of Minnesota's health insurance exchange and takes a two-week trip to Costa Rica. She was forced to resign after taking criticism for letting the website crash. This, however is inhumane, but it does prove a point. It would be difficult to be 100% away from a multi-million dollar company.
This article of the woman resigning demonstrates how the Government is created and sustained upon the people. The people are the core of the business(Government). Therefore, popular sovereignty plays into this article because even though she is probably her own boss, because of the public outcry she stepped down. Thus, showing that the people have authority too. Therefore, the Constitution provides one of the ways how our government is restricted to certain objectives. However, this is inhumane. The woman deserves her vacation because were all human and its good to relieve all the stress and anxiety received from work. But there is a good point being made. If your a CEO be careful on the next vacation you want to take! You might have to resign! So don't completely forget about your business.

Poltical Quiz: I Side with...
9/1/2014
I sided with democrats on most political issues. I was surprised that I sided 57% with republicans on social, economic, and foreign policy issues, because I thought i was more democratic on those topics, because I have strong differences about economic issues like taxes and stuff. I'm sort of surprised that im only 44% libertarian, because I'm kind of one of those people who don't belong to a certain party but still share political beliefs among all parties and I just thought libertarian would be a little percentage wise up there with democrats.
Politcal Quiz: On the issues...
9/1/2014
I wasn't surprised that I sided only 30% with Roaseanne Barr and 28% with Obama, because like I said i feel like I don't belong to any party. Im one of those people that have their political views all over the place. I probably do agree with Roseanne Barr on social and economic issues but as it shows i sided with social issues with her the most so yeah. I disagree that i sided with Paul Ryan 25% because that'd be the last person I would've thought to been on my top candidates search, because he's a strong hearted republican especially on the topics of social and economic issues.
Political Quiz: pew/pbs political party...
9/1/2014
I matched with the democratic party, however I'm a moderate democrat, and about 23%.
It indicated that people my age (16) usually sided with democrats on social issues and economic issues. More females were democratic than males from ages 18-85. With race there were more minorities that sided with the democratic party than Caucasian males and females. However religious people sided with the republican party, which I wasn't surprised about at all. I'm not surprised that I was weighed in as a moderate democrat, because like I said in all my other blog posts I'm very differential with all my political views. I don't belong to any specific political party.

in pakistan's tribal north, us drone strkes kills four...
9/28/2014
In Pakistan, an American drone strike in northwestern Pakistan killed at least four people that were suspected of being militants. Government officials are supporting that remotely piloted drones are an important needed weapon in the hunt for militants in areas where ground troops cannot operate. The hunt is mostly for members of the Haqqani network, who have organized out attacks on our military. Government officials are also saying that the Pakistan military claimed success in its campaign against militants in South Waziristan after a military attack in 09, but there are still some militants alive in the area. The exact target of the drone strike was a vehicle, however there were two casualties that were also killed apart of the Arab nation.
This article connects with the political aspect of the US government. The US government is still aware of other terrorist militants not just ISIS, but is clearly involved in other parts of the middle east. This backs up that the nation is involved globally with others to help the efforts of fighting off militants in the middle east. This also shows politcal forms of government structure, because strikes are viewed as a breach of the country’s sovereignty by the United States. Human rights activists have also criticized the drone strikes, claiming that they have resulted in a large number of civilian casualties.
In my opinion, I think the drones are definitely a big breach in the country's sovereignty and nationalism. This also creates more unnecessary politics for the media and just causes more problems. Drone strkes have caused many casualties, but however the US continues to use this "effective" method, but this won't bring back the casualities lives. However, the US must protect the citizens of this country! So this topic can be viewed as 50/50 (unjust/just) but in my voice I think its wrong invading another countries soil. But that's just my opinion :P

Republicans Are Trying to Make Sure Minorities and Young People Don't Vote This November...
10/12/2014
Basically, some states are trying to implement laws in which it'll cause the blacks, hispanics, and low-income voters to not be able to vote. Atleast 22 states have enacted these new laws of voting restrictions and as the next election comes the voting of these races will be lower. They say its due to Obama, because he recieved alot of votes out of nowhere from blacks, hispanics, and young voters, because they tend to be democratic. They are ready to be in-effect for the 2014 midterm elections.Overall, those measured restrictions that were added are shorter voting hours, voter registration drives, and the requirement that voters present a government ID or proof of citizenship to cast a ballot.
The republicans are doing this for their political benefit. It ties in with this, because less blacks, hispanics, lower-income voters wouldn't be able to vote for the democratic party. Therefore, republicans would be beneficial to this, because they can win, and its all politics. If 22 states have enacted this law, it will definetly be a game changer for the upcoming elections. These political strategies are just one of many that both sides of the parties come up with to attack each other.
I think that this is wrong, however it is a good strategy. The republicans are going to get a huge benefit from this in future elections. It can affect the outcome of many elections. This is just how the two parties attack each other. Its dirty politics and I think the republicans just hit the democrats with a big blow. Especially if this has already gone into affect in 22 states. Republicans are taking the lead!

Why fast-food workers are suing Scott Walker for a raise
10/30/2014
This article is about how Gov. Walker keeps rejecting the workers that are trying to fight for the increase of minimum wage. It discusses how they deserve it and should be barely above the poverty line. However, there are many people in the state of Wisconsin that barely make it day by day on food stamps, because they have children and $7.25 doesn't cut it. It also states that the governor was trying to “help employers create jobs that pay far more than the minimum wage or any other proposed minimum.” Thus, fast food workers are aiming to sue Gov. Scott Walker in order to either get a raise or millions.
This story connects to Politics in that the Gov. doesn't want to make these certain decisions because his colleagues don't approve. Politics are played in every state, but him having to change minimum wage affects many other problems in the state. It would interfere with business owners and their policies. It would affect their business. At the end, it would create alot more problems to solve by changing the minimum wage. It would be beneficial to employees, however Politics are the reason why they wont be able to get a raise. I personally think that it's messed up that they're not raising the minimum wage. However, if i was a politician or a business owner i'd be heated, because it would affect my income and it would also affect my policies. Also by doing, this i believe that it will do more harm than good, because then business owners wont hire as much and will start cutting people off. Thus, causing more minimum wage workers to be jobless and lead to deep poverty. So I feely iffy on this subject of raising minimum wage, but its in the hands of leaders of america, so we must let them decide. |

Al Sharpton: Rand Pauls outreach to blacks could hurt Democrats in 2016...
11/30/2014
This article is about the republican candidate Rand Paul, and how him reaching out to the black community may suffer a big loss for democrats in the 2016 presidential elections. Al Sharpton a rev, believes democrats Democrats have traditionally done well among African American voters, especially with Barack Obama at the top of the ticket. That is if he runs for president, fewer African Americans may be motivated to show up and vote against him. However because of his outreach, democrats can suffer a pitfall.
This story connects with politics in gov in that there are many examples of critical elections and how demographics play in. He is a republican reaching out to a demographic unfamiliar with republicans. He is challenging the ideals of democrats. Therefore, there is a chance of him winning the 2016 elections, if he wins over the majority of the african american demographics. I personally think its interesting that a republican is going out of his way to a new demographic. He's trying something different that what other people do instead of giving up hes striving for the extra votes. Therefore, if he wins over that demographic i think he deserves presidency. However, i believe what he believes on the political issues is different than mine, so he's going to have to try hard to convince other demographics hes on their "side". |
